Coming on Sunday, January 22, following the church service, the Missions Committee will host a "free will donation soup-er lunch" to benefit the Renewing Homes of Greater Augusta. A soup lunch will be provided; and we will have the director of the group, Phil Holbrook, as the speaker. This group volunteers time and materials to repair homes in the area for older or disabled folks who own their own homes but are physically or financially unable to make necessary repairs. This volunteer group makes it possible for these folks to stay in their own homes as long as possible.
The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank Concert held at Augusta Stone raised a grand total of $6,503. That money will provide over 26,012 meals to our needy brothers and sisters in central Virginia and in the Valley.
The Angel Tree gifts were delivered to Social Services for our six foster children. We delivered a car load of fleece blankets, socks, shirts, hygiene items, and other goodies to the Commonwealth Center for Children and Adolescents. Both organizations extend their sincere gratitude to all who participated in these projects and helped make Christmas a reality for many children.
